The "*" indicates a significant group effect for subjects with diabetes versus those without diabetes at 1 mm and 4 mm displacements. The lines connecting the means illustrate significant differences in acceleration thresholds between displacements of 1, 4 and 16 mm. The horizontal dotted iso-acceleration lines demonstrate that individuals with diabetes would need approximately twice the perturbation length to detect a whole body movement at the same acceleration as individuals without diabetes.
