The only surgical intervention for rats in the Control group involved electrode placement. Rats in the Dual-RPNI group underwent a free EDL muscle transfer with placement of a fascicle of the tibial nerve, and a free tibialis anterior muscle transfer with placement of the peroneal nerve.
