Experimental setup and block diagram of the control system. The subject was seated in front of a table with a weighted jar. The dashed black oval shows the trunk during a flexion movement. Trunk position was obtained from an accelerometer and compared to baseline values from quiet upright seating. The two PID controllers determined the necessary changes in stimulation parameters that the external control unit issued to the implanted neuroprosthesis
