Here we use a worked example of multiple sclerosis within the patient-in-the-loop framework to improve mobility. Here musculoskeletal models of gait efficiency and symmetry are used to aid diagnosis, a device is used for intervention, and a musculoskeletal model of human-device interaction is used to predict several gait metrics when using the device.
